Biography

From the open mic nights in his hometown of Sarnia, to the cafes in Montreal, and finally to his den in Toronto, music has always been the focus of his life. The ethereal sounds produced on his acoustic guitar, overlapped with his relaxed vocals led to the composition of charming music in a singer-songwriter style. Karly D has released an EP entitled “Mad Chedda” which contains a percussive guitar instrumental song, light-hearted acoustic riffs in conjunction with whimsical lyrics, and even a rap song!

Over the past decade – long before he ever picked up an acoustic guitar – Karly D kept a journal and a recorder on hand to write down spur of the moment lyrics and record a plethora of melodies. In the past few years, he has worked diligently to connect these pieces into the full puzzle that you are hearing today.

The newest album, “Anticipatory Anxiety and the Fear of Death”, is the open acknowledgement that he has dealt with social anxiety throughout his life alongside a looming fear of suddenly leaving this world behind. This in conjunction with the emotional isolation that many people feel in the twenty-first century perfectly details the musical style which is reflected in the album artwork. The music is meant to be dreary, lending to a jarring sense of fear, anxiety, and drowsiness.
